You should aim to strain your muscles as little as possible during your trip.Poor posture will tend to tire us out, and there are many other places to get a work-out, like the gym if you're motivated.
- Sit in such a way that only your feet and hands are doing the work.
Be careful! If you're too high up on your seat, you'll strain your back and shoulders. - Your arms should be bent at a 45° angle (and no more)
- Put your hands at 9:15
- A tip: Rotate the wheel a quarter-turn; if your arms in this position are bent at 45° you're good, otherwise adjust the distance and/or incline of the seat.
- Your legs must be supported by your seat (to the extent that you can adjust its incline)
- Your elbows must be at armrest height (not on the window) so that you can move them during the long trip in order to avoid straining your shoulders and arms.
- Smile, and that's all! Simple…right?
If you apply this checklist, you'll see a real improvement in how tired you get at the wheel. The best solution if you feel really tired is still to stop for a coffee break or a nap.
Habits are what they are, but with a bit of willpower, they can always be overcome in the end.
With the right driving posture, you'll be ready for a new segment in Game of Roads!!
