Mobility Where to cycle in Luxembourg?
April 1, 2022
Did you know that Luxembourg has almost 600 kms of cycle routes and about 700 kms of mountain bike trails? Whether you just want to go out with your family for an hour or two, or to escape for the weekend discovering the Terres Rouges or the Mullerthal, there are plenty of possibilities in Luxembourg.
Discover the city of Luxembourg by bike

You can explore Luxembourg’s capital, on cycle routes ranging from 5 kms up to 13 kms, which will take you through the districts of Kirchberg, the Railway Station and the Old Town as well as the parkland and valley of the Alzette river. Download the brochure on the city's website.

Did you know that there is also a UNESCO bike ride through the historic quarters and the old fortress? This tour is free and you can also download it onto your mobile phone.

Cycle routes through the Luxembourg countryside

There are many websites which list the various cycle routes available in Luxembourg.

Cycle routes are identified by the letters PC, plus a number. Across the country, twenty three cycle routes are currently listed, the longest being 90 kms in length.

Cycle routes can be found on the city of Luxembourg’s website  but also on the Provelo Association’s website.
You will find a comprehensive map of cycle paths and can even buy sets of Luxembourg cycle route maps.

If you are cycling along these routes using your mobile phone, you can refer to the geoportal website which enables you to view and download different routes, whether for racing bikes or mountain bikes.

Mountain bike trails

If you prefer mountain biking, you will not be disappointed in Luxembourg. Indeed, both in the north and the south, you can easily get away from it all, surrounded by nature.

Other cycling possibilities across Luxembourg

If you want to go on a trip for more than one day, you can also take advantage of these various initiatives:

  • Bed+bike’: this is a quality label introduced in 2011 by the Ministry of Tourism and the Lëtzebuerger Vëlos-Initiativ. It enables you to find locations, across the whole country, which provide accommodation for cyclists, and to access the cycle paths in the Luxembourg network.
  • Hike & Bike by the CFL: many of the cycle routes leave from a station, so you can board a train with your bicycle, and bike from station to station.

For travelling or for your passion, InsureMyBike offers complete protection for your new bike. Whether it's a racing bike, an e-bike or any other type of bike, we want all biking enthusiasts to be able to insure their bikes easily … and simply to feel safe.
