At the head of Baloise in Luxembourg since June 2023, Christine Theodorovics has over 24 years of experience in financial services. She initially worked at Credit Suisse from 2000 to 2004, and then moved on to the Swiss Life Group until 2010, where she worked in various roles across different markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, including roles on Director of Operational Excellence, Director of Business Development, and Director of Quality Management.
Christine Theodorovics continued her career at the Zurich Insurance Group from 2011 to 2019, where she held positions as Head of Global Independent Distribution, Member of the Board of Directors of Zurich Germany, Member of the Executive Committee of Bancassurance in Germany, Director of Life Business for Zurich Switzerland, and CEO of Global Life in Austria. She has a track record in the areas of management, business transformation, distribution, and strategic development.
More recently, between 2019 and 2022, she took charge of driving the distribution strategy, innovation, and digital solutions for the AXA Group as the Chief Strategy Officer, Member of the European Executive Committee, and Member of the Board of Directors in five countries.
Christine Theodorovics is also an independent non-executive board member of one financial institutions and an independent non-governmental organization. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Vienna (Austria), a Master of Arts in European Economic Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium), and a Diploma in Banking from the Swiss Financial Institute. She also holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Gloucestershire (United Kingdom) and is a graduate of the INSEAD International Directors Program as a certified non-executive board member.
Laurent Heiles has been working in the insurance industry for 25 years.
He began his career in the family business, then as Sales Manager at Foyer Assurances. Following this experience, he joined Baloise in 2001, where he held a number of different roles before taking up the position of Commercial Director, International Life Director, and member of the Executive Committee. He has also been Chair of the Board at Baloise Life Liechtenstein since 2020. Through these various positions, he plays a decisive role in driving the company’s strategy and aligning it with the Group's vision, while ensuring the company's visibility.
Laurent Heiles holds an Executive MBA HSG from the University of St.Gallen, in Switzerland. He also holds a Master's degree in International Business and Finance from HEI-HEIP: School of High International Studies in Paris, which he got after studying law at the Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas.
In addition to his role as Director at Baloise, he is an active member of several professional associations, including the Fédération des jeunes dirigeants d'entreprises de Luxembourg and the Association des Compagnies d'Assurances et de Réassurances du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg, where he sits on the International Life Commission and the Local Market Commission.
Stephan Hersperger-Cremer has over 14 years' experience in the insurance and financial field. Stephan began his career at Baloise Group in Switzerland in 2009, as Risk Manager. He then held the position of Portfolio Strategist at Helvetia Group for 4 years, before returning to Baloise as Head of Investment Management, in Germany. Since June 2022, he has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Baloise in Luxembourg.
Of Swiss origin, Stephan holds a Master's degree in Quantitative Economics and Finance from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, following studies at the Helsinki School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland, and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Stephan is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charterholder and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
Filip Volders has joined Baloise as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and member of the Executive Committee in 2019, with the mission of developing stronger digitalisation within our processes.
Originally from Flanders, Filip Volders holds a civil engineering degree in computer science (University of Leuven) and an industrial engineering degree (Antwerp University of Applied Sciences). With 29 years' experience in the IT and financial world, he had worked́ for 6 years within the IQ-EQ group as Group IT, change, security & facilities leader and member of the executive committee, before taking up his post at Baloise. In charge of the Transformation Office, he supervises the various IT disciplines, as well as the Transformation and Agility teams.
Graduated in actuarial science, David Destappes has built his career within several insurance companies, holding key roles in strategic development, risk management, and reinsurance.
With nearly 30 years of experience in life and non-life insurance, David brings valuable expertise and strategic vision to the Company, driving its operations forward. He is also active on several boards of directors. This broad range of expertise highlights his versatility and his commitment to innovation across all sectors in which he is involved.
