There are two ways of dealing with a claim:
- If the damage is significant, it warrants the intervention of a professional to restore the damage.
- If the damage is minor, you don't need to call in a professional, and you or someone close to you can carry out the work yourself.
This is where payment by mutual agreement is appropriate.
This involves direct payment by us, without the intervention of a professional to carry out your work.
Once you have declared your claim and provided photos, which are essential for studying the case, a Baloise advisor will examine your case and assess your claim to see whether it qualifies for over-the-counter payment.
If the case is admissible and you have expressed a wish to receive this type of payment, the manager in charge of your case will contact you to propose an amount of compensation that will take into account the cost of materials and the time needed to repair the damage.
If you accept, the compensation will be paid to you as soon as possible. You will then be free to carry out the work as you wish, with no proof of completion or purchase required at a later date.
If you feel that the amount offered is insufficient in relation to your claim, you can refuse the offer and go back to the normal claims procedure.
There's no need to wait for a professional to visit, and payment is made as soon as we receive your agreement to the over-the-counter indemnity.
No proof of completion of the work or supplies purchased is required.
You can choose whether to have the work done yourself, by a friend or relative, or by another professional. Similarly, if you refuse our offer of compensation, you can go back to the traditional way of dealing with your claim.
The compensation takes into account the purchase of materials for the work as well as the time required to carry out the work.
There is no deadline for completing the work, which you do at your own pace.
